Programmable / Semi-Automatic Internal Grinding Machine

The Okamoto IGM-2M is a Programmable / Semi-Automatic Internal Grinding Machine, Japanese-built, designed for accurately grinding internal diameters and producing high-quality bore finishes.

This machine is fitted with an Okamoto programmable grinding control system, allowing the operator to set grinding positions, infeed rates, dressing functions and other grinding parameters. Once set up, the machine can carry out an automatic grinding cycle, including rough, medium and fine infeed operations.

With an internal grinding capacity of approximately 6–200 mm, a maximum grinding stroke of 200 mm and approximately 508 mm of longitudinal table travel, the IGM-2M is capable of handling a useful range of precision engineering components.

The workhead has a variable speed range of approximately 50–850 rpm and can be swivelled from -5° to +30°, allowing the machine to be used for both straight internal grinding and internal taper grinding.

The grinding spindle operates at up to 10,000 rpm and is driven by a 3 HP motor. The machine is also equipped with hydraulic operation, servo-controlled cross feed, coolant and a wheel dressing attachment.

The IGM-2M is suited to precision engineering applications where accurate internal diameters, bore geometry and surface finish are required. Typical applications include bearing bores, bushes, sleeves, tooling components, hydraulic components and other precision engineering parts.
